Congrats to everyone on their races this weekend!! Lacey WOHOO!!! All the SF ladies…all the KC folks…seriously everyone had a great weekend for racing.

HEAT
I can’t say that heat has ever really bothered me all that much when I run. So I was a little surprised to find that running in heat + 90% daily humidity suddenly made my legs feel sluggish. It also became quickly apparent that if I was going to run more than 6 miles I would now be carrying my water bottle.

LONG RUN
Leaving at 6AM, temp was still 81 degrees and 90% humidity. So strange because at least in the summer in KC, if I went early enough I could escape the heat…it just never cools down here at the moment. I was really excited for this run because I knew I could run to some new places…but I also accurately knew that while 16 miles last weekend was a breeze I would probably struggle to hit 10 this week. Indeed after 5 I walked…then picked up back up for 3 miles…then I ran in to a Susan G. Komen race so I walked a few miles, ran one more and at 13 miles figured I was done.

Can’t remember the last long run where I just felt so compelled to walk after 5 miles!!! I came home, stripped down…and my clothing was so wet that is was dripping on to the floor. EWWWW, but guess that means I could jump in the water next time and no one would know the difference.

MY PATH
All right so here are some pics of the areas where I run…through downtown, Brickell Key and Key Biscayne where there is the 1 and only HILL I can find. Seriously the bridge is my 1 hill for training…not a fan of the lack of hills.

DSCN1072DSCN1059 DSCN1068 DSCN1080DSCN1074DSCN1085 Those of you who follow me on Twitter know that I took a pretty hard spill last weekend, while I was taking in all the sites around me during my run. I actually bust a blood vessel in my palm, skinned up my right hip and shoulder…so you are fortunate that these pictures were provided sans blood.

It looks like such a nice place to run! I am slowly starting to appreciate the hillier part of South Carolina, but I am from Arizona so I am used to no hills while running.

I love key biscayne, its beautiful!! great actiin shot of you running too!To be honest, I am not the BIGGEST vita fan either, they sent me a huge sampler box and so far the only one I like it the chocolate PB one and I had to toast it and put PB on it to make it tasty! haha…the cranbran was nothing to write home about, same withthe banana nut!have a great day!! hang in there with the humidity!!

p.s. you dont need a vita for the cashews for the kale chips. Soak them in water for a good 8 hrs, you will be fine in a food processor and then grind with the rest of the stuff. AND an oven is fine, just watch the chips like a hawk :)

You should be feeling the nice weather yesterday and today. That part of Miami you are running is nice, just be careful. Yes, NO joke with the humidity. It's very flat here, except for bridges.

Ugh!Thanks your comment on my blog the other day; I appreciate everyones support. My bf lived in Miami until a few weeks ago. I would visit him once a month, and I always ended up walking or staying in the air conditioning for a workout. It is so pretty, but the humidity is a killer! Good job on getting 5 miles of your run in. Your body will eventually get used to it.

I was wondering how you had been doing with the humidity. I'm still visiting in Texas and it is so much EASIER to run here than it is to run at home in S. Florida. I was just telling my husband that I'm kind of dreading going back just because of the humidity. But its hard to beat the views :)

Great photos!!Sorry to hear about your spill, though :-( But I soooo know what you're talking about running and coming back DRENCHED. Might as well have gone swimming, eh? But the worst of the humidity should be over soon and winter is usually a wonderful time to run in FL. You'll be smiling while many others in cold places are shivering :-)
