Who Is It Good For?
Who is the Skechers Go Walk 7 City Lights Hands Free Slip-Ins a good fit for? Let’s break it down with some common categories:
- Walking Workouts: Keep these for easy walks, nothing long or intense.
- Wide Feet: They run narrow, and the mesh isn’t super stretchy to accommodate a wider fit.
- Standing All Day: The perfect mix of support and comfort.
- Daily Wear: Comfortable and stylish to dress up or keep casual for running errands.
If you’re looking for an everyday shoe to run errands or the perfect pair of travel shoes to make going through TSA easier, you’ll want to grab yourself a pair!
Skechers Go Walk 7 City Lights Overview
I love a good casual shoe, especially when I’m trying to dress a little “fancier” and not wear a pair of running shoes.
The truth is though, I’m not sure that I could say these are my style, but I can vouch that they’re comfortable.
If you’re looking for a lightweight shoe that you can wear to run errands, go to lunch with friends, or, my favorite, to make traveling through an airport easier, immediately click add to cart.
The harder heel of the Skechers Go Walk 7 City Lights is one of the biggest features of the shoe. This is the Skechers Hands Free Slip-in to do exactly what you think, put the shoe on hands free.
Ehhh, I can’t confidently say that I was able to put these shoes on without using my hands a little bit. I had to do a little foot wiggle and heel shimmy to get everything in place. Maybe with more wear, they’ll loosen up, but during that first week? Not exactly a smooth slide.
One fun feature is the Skechers Air-Cooled Memory Foam insole. It’s not like walking on ice cubes, but there was a slight cooling effect, especially when I was standing still. As someone who runs warm and wears shorts in 20-degree weather, I’ll take any help that I can get.
I’m curious to see what the lifespan will be of the air-cooled foam. I guess I will just have to keep rocking these Skechers Go Walk 7 Slip-ins to find out.
If they start to smell like, well, shoes that get worn a lot, it’s not a problem. Toss them in the washing machine, and they’re good as new!
If you tend to overpronate (foot rolls inward), the one thing you’re going to sacrifice with the Skechers Go Walk 7 is arch support. While these may not be a perfect match, as we say in all of our reviews, try them on and see how they feel for you.

Skechers Go Walk 7 Slip-ins Fit
Overall, the fit of the Skecher Walk 7 Slip-ins is super comfortable. I may get some backlash for this, but I did go sockless while wearing these shoes. If that’s not your jam, I think that a no-show liner sock will do just fine!
The mesh is made from a Stretch Fit design to give a sock-like feel and truly forms to your foot. The mesh is thicker, so hopefully, with the air-cooled memory foam, these won’t be too warm during the spring and summer months.
The fit is a little narrow in the toe box, and I think adding socks would just make the shoe feel super snug.
For reference, typically, I wear a women’s size 10 for non-running shoes, but these came in a women’s size 11 and fit just right. There’s a tiny amount of room if my feet swell, but I don’t think that the size 10 would’ve fit comfortably.
The back of the shoe features an exclusive Heel Pillow that is meant to help hold your foot securely in place. I was a little worried about this digging into my skin, but I didn’t have to spend any time breaking them in.
The heel pillow was super comfortable, and even when my feet got sweaty, my heel didn’t slip out the back of the shoe.
Skechers Go Walk 7 Slip-ins Feel
I feel like you could describe the Skechers Go Walk 7 like in that children’s rhyme- they’re not too plush, not too firm, and the feel underfoot is just right.
Every piece that makes up the shoe is super lightweight. The sole is made with a ULTRA GO cushioning foam that provides a responsive, high-rebound effect with every stride. You won’t feel too much of the ground beneath you, but it’s still not a super plush shoe either.
The Skechers Go Walk features a dual-density traction outsole for stability. And Goga Mat Technology to provide a combination of support and comfort, especially for those super long days.
While my husband called these pool noodle shoes, these blue pieces of foam on the outsole are meant to be there for added support. I can’t say that I felt them at all while wearing the shoes; if anything, they at least maybe look cool.
I’m not too sure how durable the high-rebound Hyper Pillars are going to be, especially if this is a pair of shoes that are going to get worn almost daily.
I bet that the high wear areas of the shoe are going to disappear pretty quickly. Hopefully, that doesn’t mean you’re going to find small blue pieces of foam everywhere!
