The best funny podcasts can be a very subjective list, but with thousands of you chiming in and millions downloading I think we can safely say these will brighten your day and lighten your load even if just for an hour.
Previously, I’ve shared the best running podcasts. But some days what I need on my run is laugh. Especially because we know that smiling during your run actually tricks your brain in to thinking that it’s easier! Hmmm…maybe I need to rethink my no music for the first half of a race policy and sub in a laugh track.

Best Funny Podcasts
What’s funny? While that is always subjective, I think you’ll enjoy most of these. I’ll give you my feedback on the ones that I love and the others that were recommended by many folks in an Instagram Story question.
Check out these funny entertaining podcasts and I hope like me, a few will make you actually laugh out loud while running. Sure, people might look at you, but when you’re that happy who cares!

Conan O’Brien Needs a Friend
Complete confession, I never watched his TV show, but was sucked in to this podcast from the first episode that I heard. Partially because I do so love sarcasm, but also because it’s simply hilarious. The banter with his co-workers to his interviews with fellow comedians who also can’t seem to manage a normal conversation means you’re basically getting a show more than an interview.
Recommended Episode: Episode 60 with Jim Gaffigan because I think he’s extra hilarious and the two of them making each other laugh, will make it very hard for you not to laugh.
The Office Ladies
I was skeptical. I was wrong. The energy that these two have is so perfect for those days where it feels like you’re dragging. It’s also one where I can tune in and out a little bit, but still have that high energy available and bring back a lot of smiles thinking about Steve Carroll and say the “Run for Rabies”.
Recommended Episode: Why not start at the beginning? But then I have a special fondness for Episode 6 where she talks about Jeff Probst (yes the Survivor host) because Jenna and I share a special bond…we were both married by him! Though in fairness, my wedding was on TV.
Armchair Expert
While at times this podcast can actually go pretty deep, it’s still overall a great funny podcast. This is mostly because Dax finds no subject to be off limits and has a way of making even the most intense things suddenly laughable. So for me, this is a fun mix of getting information about people and laughing through it…whether that’s a discussion with an FBI agent, an actress or a fellow comedian.
Recommended Episode: Dog the Bounty Hunder – WHAT?! I had no interest in this episode and instead found myself utterly fascinated to learn about him and realizing that everyone has a story which might surprise you. Another fabulous recent episode was with Will Arnett, where again I learned so much about him through lots of laughs.
Andy Daly Podcast Pilot Project
Ok, I’m going to be straight with you…it’s not current, meaning they made two seasons and that’s all you’re getting it seems. They aren’t interviews, so nothing about it requires that you heard it when it first came out in 2018.
Instead, this is Andy doing a variety of characters that are probably too honest for their own good, but freaking hilarious. Which is no surprise as he’s a known comedian and writer for numerous shows.
Recommended Episode: Ship to Shore with L Ron Hubbard if you found the TV series about Scientology interesting, well this could give you some laughs.
My Dad Wrote a Porno
A HUGE number of you recommended this podcast and I agree that the first few episodes had me laughing, at times uncomfortably. But I didn’t find it to be one that I enjoyed for a run…posssibly just something about the rhythm and cadence of the show? OR because I got the joke after a couple episodes and wanted something with more meat.
Recommended Episode: Err the first one? No really, folks love this so give it a shot and start there for a solid laugh.
Life is Short with Just Long
He has conversations with some hilarious people, where once again his own self deprecating humor is enjoyable to me. If you don’t know Justin, he’s an actor you’ve most definitely seen in a comedy movie from Dodgeball to well a bunch of movies that didn’t perform so well, ha.
He’s lighthearted though and seems like that friend you’d just love to hang out with on any given day, which makes his conversations casual and enjoyable.
Recommended Episode: I really want to say Jim Gaffigan again because I like him, ha. But I actually found the episode with Jameela Jamil (from the Good Place) really interesting because I learned a lot about her passion for living her truth and changing the world.
Sibling Revelry with Kate Hudson and Oliver Hudson
Ok this is a new to me show, and as an only child it gives me the insight in to what I missed…for better and worse. This one for me is similar to Armchair Expert where they are going to dive deep in some conversations, but there is also a lot of laughably relatable conversations.
No surprise there are a ton of podcasts that I personally haven’t had a chance to listen to yet, but which you have all sworn are funny. So if you need some additional ideas, these comedy podcasts have the approval of other fellow runners.

Funny Podcasts for Men?
I noticed an interesting trend around here, which that because I talk about gear often focused on women there is a weird assumption that FUNNY things aren’t for men. My husband listens to a LOT of these and cracks up right along side me during our long drives to the trails…so I think these all qualify.
I still remember carrying a portable CD player on some of my early runs, then when iPods came out I would convert an audiobook to MP3’s…and now suddenly I’ve got access to a world of music, books and the best funny podcasts to entertain me for miles.
Crazy how much tech has changed my running!
And of course if you want something that is both RUNNING and FUNNY, I’ve heard there is this fabulous new audiobook: Run To The Finish: The Everyday Runners Guide to Training.
