- Injured
- 90 degrees
- First time ever riding on gravel road
- Old nasty running shoes (hello mud pit)
You might think this sounds like a recipe for disaster, but it was a BLAST!!! David and I packed up our helmets and bike this morning without really knowing what I had signed us up to do. And of course I could have just declined the race, but we were signed up and it sounded so fun!!
I wish I had more pics, but I don’t yet so suffice to say it was dirty and WONDERFUL. We alternated biking and running through 6 obstacles…climbing hurdles, potato sack jump, inflatable obstacle, inflatable waterslide, walking with cans on our feet, AND a huge mud pit which we crawled through on our bellies.
I was totally kicking D’s bootie through mile 5 and then I had that last mile to run and the knee pain kicked in…so sad! I had all this energy and excitement, but oh well time to walk. Seriously the weather didn’t bother me a lick, though I saw quite a few people who were really suffering.
Here we are pre-race…both wearing our nasty shirts because we literally stripped and put them in the trash after the mud pit. The race was at the Kansas Speedway (NASCAR), which uber excited D since he loves NASCAR…too bad we didn’t actually get to do any racing on the track.
Post race, we’ve semi hosed off and tried to change. You can still see mud on D’s neck..but oh well it was time for his hard earned beer and Chipotle. I was also super exited because a girl I met through my Monday night Sports Bras to Sports Bars was there with her hubs and they were a LOT OF FUN!! WOHOO new friends!
Happy second, first anniversy hubby! Yup today marks the redo of our wedding..that lucky devil has an excuse for life if he misses our anniversary in March.
