Running shoe snobs have turned up their noses at a lot of brands attempting to create running shoes. But what we know is that the more accessible it feels, the more runners we get to embrace! So let’s talk about the Lululemon Beyondfeel running shoe.
I’ve been putting these shoes to the test on a variety of runs to find out just how they feel, are they durable and who is going to enjoy the most. I think some of you are going to be surprised!
Who Is It Good For?
- Wide Feet: Not a narrow shoe, but not a lot of extra room.
- Heavier Runners: Full coverage outsole and cushion should be durable for long term use.
- Long Runs: Depending on the runner potentially up to 10 miles, but we’d say 3 to 6 is sweet spot.
- Front of the Pack: Only as an easy run shoe, this is not a tempo or speed shoe.
The Beyondfeel Running shoe is perfect for those who want a stylish moderate cushioned daily trainer for those easy weekday runs of 3 to 6 miles.
Lululemon Beyondfeel Running Shoe Overview
Personally, I’m a big fan of Lululemon running gear and that they’ve been doing some great things to support female athletes. So it shouldn’t be a huge shock to see that they’ve jumped in to the running shoe market.
But like everyone else, I wondered if they could really stand up to the big brands already in the space. And I think what you’ll find is they’re going to appeal to what we might call the casual runner or the fitness runner. WHICH IS OK!!!
Not everyone needs to be out here marathon training. Finding a shoe that allows you to enjoy a few 3 mile runs a week and then walk all over the place is a freaking big win.
And that’s what I think we have here.
They didn’t skimp on coming in to the market. They started right away with a supercritical foam, which is a fancy way of saying a nice cushion that isn’t hefty. What they don’t share anywhere is if this is an EVA or TPU foam, and that matters when we’re talking about longevity of the shoe.
When it comes to the cushion, this isn’t the 46mm Puma MagMax Nitro which is super cushy. Instead it’s a more moderate cushion, which is a good thing for the average runner! If you haven’t been running a long time the overly cushioned shoes could create issues.
So while some folks are referring to this as a max cushioned shoe, it doesn’t quite fit that bill based on what other brands are now doing. Instead, this is a great cushion that’s not too soft or too firm. And the lower stack means you’re going to feel more stable.
The silver area you see is a heel clip. It’s there to provide a little more stability and keep you feeling locked in.

- Usage: Easy run shoe

I admit to being very drawn in by the red color. I mean studies shoe it makes us feel faster and I am down for anything that tells my brain these are fast runner feet.
It’s also a shoe I’d happily wear for a long day on my feet walking around.

Beyond Feel Fit
In terms of size, I wore my standard size from other running shoe brands and it feel good lengthwise. That being said, if I was going to use these for marathon training and longer distances I might go up a 1/2 size to give the toes more room.
I would consider it a more narrow fit with a bit of the hourglass shape to the shoe.
Without a back hole for heel lock lacing, those who need that might find they pull up from the shoe a bit. I traditionally use it, but was ok in this model. I think because the heel was pretty snug (in a good way).
It’s well padded along the heel and tongue, which makes for comfort and no rubbing. I actually love that the tongue is on the shorter side, so thank you I can wear my no show socks if I want. Though I wonder if they will trim it in the future to help with the weight of the shoe.
