Mount to Coast has been a brand our team has enjoyed testing, whether that’s been on the trails, on the roads, or even as a casual everyday trainer. So we’re excited to see a new addition to the lineup, and if you’re a trail runner, we think you’ll be too.
With this release, the brand has created its most technical trail shoe yet.
For ultra runners, this shoe looks like it will check all the right boxes to keep your feet comfortable over long miles. Think durability, cushioning, stability, and a touch of speed all in one shoe.
The Mount to Coast M1 is a shoe that’s expected to show up frequently at technical trail races in 2026.
Here’s what we know so far, thanks to our time at The Running Event (TRE) in San Antonio.

What Can you Expect from Mount to Coast M1?
The goal in designing the M1 was to create a high-performance racing shoe for super technical trails.
Mount to Coast is already known for shoes that handle long distances well, and with the M1, the brand is taking it a step further. This one is clearly designed with speed, durability, and rugged terrain in mind.
Mount to Coast introduced a new JETCELL midsole, made from TPU foam.
This type of foam is known for its durability while still offering solid energy return. Yes, TPU tends to be heavier than other foams, but it doesn’t seem to weigh the M1 down too much, coming in at 9.9 oz.
Instead, the Mount to Coast M1 is said to deliver a responsive, protective feel that you’ll want, especially on courses like the Western States or the Hardrock 100.
Compared with the brand’s other trail shoes, such as the T1, the M1 is expected to have a wider base and higher sidewalls for even more stability.
Flip the shoe over, and you’ll find a full Vibram outsole with 4mm traction lugs.
This design provides reliable protection and grip across a wide range of trail conditions. And if your run takes you onto direct roads or less technical trails, it won’t feel crunchy or awkward underfoot.
The 4mm lugs offer the traction you need for rocky terrain and wet or muddy sections, while still allowing you to pick up the pace.
Who is This For?
Like we mentioned above, if you’re a trail runner, this is definitely a shoe to keep on your radar. But let’s break it down a bit more:
- Wide Feet: We’ll come back to you after our testing on this one.
- Technical Trails: The full coverage Vibram outsole and 4mm lugs are going to shine on technical trails.
- Long Runs: It’s said this will be the shoe for ultra runners, combining comfort and durability.
- Front of the Pack: Absolutely grab this for your trail and ultra races for a combo of speed and support.
There’s your sneak peek at the Mount to Coast M1 coming in June 2026. We can’t wait for our trail gear testers to take these out and hear what they think.
