Hope you can read all of the captions there…seemed like a fun way to post a recap…
- I’m not going to do a full race recap. I think what I gave you before pretty much summed it up.
- Gabby Reece is beautiful in person too
- Bobbi and Megan are complete sweethearts and I can’t wait to race with them again
- I am frustrated by the leg…but more determined than ever to do another marathon
- I cannot say thank you enough for all the great words of kindess and for those who said I was inspiring…well thank you those words really lifted my spirits and helped me remember what a great thing I did by not giving up.
INJURY?
Why did the injury flare up…and why was it so bad? That’s really the question of the day and I came up with a few things.
I walked 1.2 miles to the start, so I was very warmed up.
I did not go out too fast.
I was however thinking about the book ChiRunning which talks about a different running form…yeah I was probably messing with my form.
I also believe the 3 plane trips that week made a difference..sitting and not being able to stretch bugs me…plus it threw off my stretching, etc.
Also thanks for the concern about finishing and really causing myself major harm. I knew what the injury was and could tell that it wasn’t going to cripple me or cause me to be out for like months if I kept at it…it just hurt like H…ELLO.

Cool recap. Captions are a bit small but got the idea. It's funny how you are more determined now to do another one. Isn't that what always happens? Good job.

Ack, sorry to hear about the leg pain. But HUGE congrats on making it to the finish! I can't imagine how tough it must have been to walk from mile 12. I agree that traveling can really put a kink into things. I suspect that a hamstring injury I got last year was from driving 8 hours and then sitting on a plane for another 8 hours after a marathon.Take care and hope you heal up fast!!

i read chirunning and it threw me off my running too! i think running the way i do naturally is the only option for me…that book is too confusing for my simple mind.
Fair Weather Runner
well congrats again on your amazing feat. i think it is awesome you stuck with it, really, good for you! i heart the pics.hey have you thought of doing the KC marathon, i've read mixed reviews. any thoughts on that sucker? i've heard it there isn't the greatest support on the course.
BOBBI McCORMICK
so proud of you girl!!! I am so glad we get to race together again!!!
Danica's Daily
Congrats on completing the marathon!!! I admire your perserverance and determination through it all!

Great photos! I bet the plane rides had something to do w/your injury — maybe not everything, but something. Just being confined so much can really but stress on the body. And I've heard that SD has some really cambered parts. That could cause problems, too.
