As someone who has friends who run in and rave about Under Armor shoes but has never tried them for herself, I was curious to see how the Under Armour Infinite Elite 2 would feel.
I’ll be honest, the shoes aren’t the sexiest, so my initial reaction opening the box was that these are shoes my mother should be wearing, not me. But as they say, never judge a shoe based on how it looks; you never know when you may find yourself a perfect match until you put them on!
While I didn’t run in the first model of the Infinite Elite, based on other reviews, runners either loved or disliked the shoe. Our fingers are crossed that the Under Armour team took note and made changes to make the Under Armor Infinite Elite 2 everyone gushes over.
Will it pass the test and become part of your easy run shoe rotation? Keep reading to find out.
Who Is It Good For?
Who is the Under Armor Infinite Elite 2 a good fit for? Let’s break it down by some common categories:
- Wide Feet: The upper mesh may help with the fit, but not ideal for wider feet.
- Heavier Runners: A stable and supportive neutral shoe with just the right amount of cushion.
- Long Runs: Probably want to leave this one at home, it doesn’t feel super springy or cushioned underfoot.
- Front of the Pack: Not your go-to speed or PR shoe by any means, but good for recovery runs.
Under Armor Infinite Elite 2 Overview
My initial reaction once I put the Infinite Elite 2’s on my feet was that they were comfortable, but I could immediately notice that they were a little bottom heavy. I wasn’t too surprised by this because just looking at the shoe, you automatically think it’s a lot of shoe.
I tried to keep an open mind for the first few runs, and I have to say that I instantly fell into a good running rhythm. The shoes offer a level of cushion that I like for shorter distances, but I wouldn’t choose them for a long run. Easy run days and recovery run days absolutely, 100% yes.
One of the biggest upgrades to this model is the full-length UA HOVR+ cushioning. When you read more about this on the UA website, it says that the foam helps to make the shoe feel lightweight and springy. But I’m honestly not sure if they know what the definition of lightweight is because this is a heavy shoe with very little pop.
With the lack of springiness and how heavy it feels underfoot, I wouldn’t recommend them for any speed workouts. Check out the UA Infinite Mega for more of that pop and cushion.
But if you’re looking for a good walking shoe or something to spend long workdays on your feet, the Infinite Elite 2 is going to be a solid choice.

Under Armor Infinite Elite 2 Fit
The fit of the Infinite Elite 2 is nothing to write home about. The shoe is not offered in a wide size, so this may not be ideal if you’re looking for a wider fit. It’s definitely a shoe that you need to try on and see how it feels.
The overall fit of the shoe was comfortable, which is a big reason why we would recommend this as a perfect walking shoe. There’s a 3-d molded sock liner that is meant to cradle your foot, to help give a more personalized fit.
UA did change the upper using an engineered mesh, which is supposed to be super lightweight and breathable. However, a lot of runners who have tried this shoe so far are saying that the upper is super thick and may not be ideal for warmer temperatures. The jury is still out on that one.
One thing our team always appreciates is when a shoe has the right combo of padding for the collar and tongue. The Under Armour Infinite Elite 2 is that perfect combo of soft, comfortable cushioning that isn’t going to irritate your skin or need to take a few runs to break in.
There’s also a gusseted tongue to help keep it in place and not slide side to side while wearing the shoe for long hours.
The outsole of the shoe is durable and meant to get you through lots and lots of time on your feet. They gave extra rubber to provide durability and rebound in the spots that are most common to wear away first. I’m curious to see how long these treads will last before getting worn away!
Similar Shoes to the Under Armor Infinite Elite 2
We’ve tested a few that feel similar, but different based on the brand fit:
- Brooks Ghost Max 2 – (similar feel underfoot, but breathable mesh)
- Asics Gel Nimbus – (great cushioned option for longer runs)
- Hoka Bondi 9 – (wider fit and more of a softer cushion underfoot)
Who Tried It?
Hi, I’m Kaitlyn Larson, one of the RTTF run coaches and lifelong runner. You’ll find me in the front of the middle of the pack, not the fastest runner, but I have qualified for and run Boston twice. I started my running journey in high school when I joined the Cross Country team and fell in love with the sport. I ran my first marathon at 19, and continue to chase new dreams and set new PRs. Now a UESCA certified run and ultra run coach and NASM CPT, I enjoy helping my clients chase their dreams and PRs, too.
