If you’re looking for a recovery tool that doesn’t take up much space, can travel with you on racecations, and won’t break your budget, your search may end here. The Venom Go is a small, lightweight device that delivers quick relief to sore, tight muscles wherever you are.
I tend to get really sore shoulders and neck muscles, especially when I spend long hours at my desk, lift heavier weights, or am in peak training.
As much as I wish I could just schedule a massage every time things tighten up, that’s not always realistic. Having something I can use at home, while I’m relaxing or multitasking, has been a lifesaver…… especially when I was marathon training.
Enter the Hyperice Venom Go.
I know, I know, you might be looking at this tiny pod and wondering how it could make a difference. But I promise, the first time you use it, you’ll get it.
And for full transparency, I bought this with my own money. This review is based on using the Venom Go consistently for the last few years, no sponsorship, just real experience.
Hyperice Venom Go Overview
The Venom line from Hyperice features a range of products designed to target specific areas of the body. However, instead of compression, these products utilize heat and vibration for recovery.
Unlike the larger Venom devices, the Go is designed for spot treatment, targeting and loosening only the area underneath the adhesive pad and pod.
You can choose from different heat and vibration combinations to soothe tight, cranky muscles. Or, if you just want gentle warmth, you can use the heating setting on its own, similar to a heating pad.
It only takes a few seconds for the pad to heat up, and even on the highest setting, it doesn’t feel too hot or like it’s going to burn your skin.
Of course, if you’re someone who’s sensitive to temperature, you’ll want to try each level to find what feels comfortable for you.
There are three vibration levels that you can pick from, depending on what your body needs:
- Level 1: Steady and consistent vibration
- Level 2: A quicker, intermittent vibration
- Level 3: A pattern of 2-3 quick pulses followed by a longer, steady vibration
Since I usually use it while working at my desk, I tend to stick with Level 3. It’s noticeable enough to help, but not so intense that it pulls my attention away.
However, just as with the heat, experiment with the settings to find what feels most comfortable for you.

What You Get
In this tiny carrying case, you’ll find everything that you need to use your Venom Go.
When you make your purchase through the Hyperice website, you’ll get the following:
- 1 Venom Go pod
- 3 Venom Go adhesive pads
- USB-C charging cable
Each adhesive pad can be used up to 20 times. Once you’re ready to place another order, you can do so easily through the website.
This is TSA-friendly, which means you can pack it in your carry-on without worrying about it being taken away.
Battery and Charging
On the lowest heat setting, the batter can last up to an hour, but if you’re using max heat and vibration together, you’ll get closer to 20 minutes per charge.
Depending on how you’re using it, that may be totally fine, but if you’re trying to treat multiple spots in one session, you may need to recharge between uses.
You can charge the Venom Go pod by using the USB-C charging cable and it takes about 2-3 hours for a full charge. The light on the pod will turn solid green once it’s ready to go.
How To Use It
The Venom Go pod attaches magnetically to the adhesive pads, so you’ll want to make sure it snaps into place. You’ll know right away if it didnt connect properly because the heat and vibration won’t turn on.
Each side of the Venom Go pod has a button:
- Power button
- HyperHeat button
- Vibration button
- Charging port
You can also pair your Venom Go with the Hyperice app via Bluetooth if you prefer to adjust the settings from your phone.
And if you’re like me and have slowly collected more than one Hyperice recovery tool, the app makes life easier because you can connect all of them and keep track of battery life and usage in one place.
The Venom Go is designed to be hands free so that you can treat sore spots and still go on with your day. No need to settle into one spot on the couch and stay there for 20-60 minutes (unless you want to, we 100% support taking time to just relax).
Simply apply the adhesive pad, snap the pod into place, select your settings, and continue with your day. It’s really that simple.
When you’re done, pop the pod off and press the liner back onto the adhesive pad. You’ll get about 20 uses per pad; the liner just helps to preserve the stickiness after each use.
My Experience with Venom Go
My neck and shoulders are always the places where I hold tension. Whether life gets stressful, training ramps up, or I’m spending long hours at my desk.
The Venom Go isn’t going to wipe out that tightness the way a full massage would, but it does help enough for me to get on with my day without constantly stopping to stretch.
As I mentioned earlier, it’s great for spot treatment. If you have a muscle that’s tough to reach with a foam roller, the Venom Go has been a really good alternative for getting that targeted relief.
Quick Take
- Super compact and comes with a carrying case to keep everything together
- Adhesive pads can be used up to 20 times
- Perfect for travelling
- It doesn’t treat a large area, only targeted spots
- Battery only lasts an hour
Does the Venom Go help relieve muscle soreness? Yes, absolutely.
Does everyone need to purchase it and add it to their daily routine? Not necessarily.
It’s a great recovery tool, especially if you have a busy schedule, but you could just easily use a standard heating pad and be fine.
The difference here is convenience; this is a little pod of relief you can take anywhere and use without stopping your day… or needing to be close to a power outlet.
Our Verdict
While I raved about the Venom Go throughout this review, I couldn’t give it a perfect 100% rating mainly because of the price. The heat and vibration combined help to relieve tight, sore muscles. Plus, it’s great if you’re on the go, travelling, and don’t want to lug a big ol’heating pad in your suitcase.
I’m a big fan of all the Hyperice Go products because they’re small, easy to travel with, and don’t take up a ton of space. My Venom Go literally sits on a shelf in my office so I can grab it whenever I need it.
