While I told you all about enjoying our long run in Park City {even with the altitude}, I wanted to also spend a little time telling you more about the city as many of you have asked me if it’s a great place to visit, can you stay active and what did I think of it. I tend to believe that I will remember all the details months after a trip, but when people ask me for recommendations all my trips run together and I can only give them little bits and pieces. I know that my way of traveling is not the same as everyone else, since I tend to be seeking out ways to be active and enjoy local produce…but maybe it will inspire you and I hope answer the questions I’ve been getting.
HYATT ESCALA
We stayed at the Hyatt Escala Lodge in Park City, which was fannnntastic for many reasons. First, the service was outstanding and the staff was pretty nice to look at (did I say that?!). Most of us where in large suites which had a huge full kitchen with 3-4 bedrooms off the main living area making it perfect for a group vacations. Second, the lodge has great vistas everywhere you look and easy access to either hiking trails in the summer or the slopes in winter.
Finally, Hyatt also has a great onsite spa, which a number of the ladies enjoyed during the rainy afternoon.
WASACTCH BREW PUB
After making numerous trips to Whole Foods, I was ready to explore more of what Park City had to offer and found Main Street. It’s a great little area full of boutique shops and local restaurants, which is the only way to eat out when traveling!
I don’t want to shock you but I went with the black bean burger with jalapeno hummus and sweet potato fries. Six other Blend attendees ordered the same thing and we all agreed it ROCKED. Meanwhile a few others tested out some edamame salads and burgers, which all also met with great reviews.
We settled on the Wasatch Brew Pub because the menu offered a wide variety and allowed a few adventurous members to do some beer tasting of local brews.
TRAILS
As we drove around I noticed pathways EVERYWHERE and lots of people biking or walking them. This is my kind of commuting and I don’t mean just a little lane on the road, I mean an actual paved path set off the road. It allows you to move safely and take in the views.
OLYMPIC PARK
Unfortunately my trip was too short to do anything other than see the park from the trails {see the ski jumps in the picture above}, but Meg took it all in by heading to the park to bobsled! Checkout her post for full details on this great adventure.
GPP FITNESS
If you are looking to mix things up with your workouts {or looking for something like CrossFit} or you only have a short amount of time to blast some calories so you can go with eating your way through Park City checkout GPP Fitness.
There is my quick rundown, but suffice to say it was GORGEOUS and I wouldn’t hesitate to go back for another weekend! While Park City is a small place there are plenty of active outdoor options to keep the entire family happy and yes an outlet mall for the traveling shopper.
