Running shoes aren’t the only shoe category that’s exploding, the recovery footwear market is on a tear and Kane has often been a leader in this area. The Revive is a sustainably designed shoe built to support you after those hard efforts.
Wait, sustainability and comfort? Sign me up!
If you’re a runner who clocks miles, busts out tough workouts, or just spends a ton of time on your feet, the Kane Revive lands somewhere between comfort gear and performance accomplice. Don’t let the funky look hold you back (or maybe this is totally your vibe). This shoe is definitely worth a try.
Who is it Good For?
- Wide Feet: Plenty of room, especially if you size up if you are in half sizes.
- Walking Workouts: Due to the material, these could get a bit warm for walking workout.
- Standing All Day: They may not be high cushion, but the design and material are very comfortable for standing for long periods of time and keeping your feet from feeling fatigued.
- Daily Wear: They aren’t the most stylish for everyday, every outfit wear, but will definitely keep your feet happy if you chose to wear daily.
Kane Revive Overview
As an Elder Millennial, my reaction when I first opened the box was a bit mixed to be honest. I’ve been through a few iterations of plastic shoes with holes in them. *cough cough Crocs*. But these looked different. Sleeker, intentionally designed. Plus I figured my teenage sports-ball playing nephews would be totally jealous.
Of course these arrived on the day of our first snow storm here, so I got to be creative in testing them out. That actually turned out to be a great thing. I feel I really put these through their paces of long durations of standing, testing out the traction on water and ice, and post workout walking.
I have been a long-time wearer of either Oofos or Hoka slides and there are a few things that will bump the Kane Revive up into regular recovery rotation.
Let’s first take a quick step back and check out who Kane Footwear is. Kane was started in 2021 by a former D1 and professional athlete that realized there had to be a better option than the overly cushioned, loose footwear athletes were choosing. He then worked with other athletes and foot wear experts to design the shoe for people “Come Back Better”.
Kane sustainably produces their footwear, is a Certified B Corp. and 1% of their gross sales are committed directly to environmental non-profits through 1% for the Planet.
The Revive is made from dual density RestoreFoam made from Brazilian sugar cane which is a renewable resource that helps reduce greenhouse gases as it grows.
The base is molded to provide support your heel, arches, and instep while providing smooth transfer from heel to toe. I will admit, the arch support was a little underwhelming to me compared to other recovery shoes I have worn. This however did not seem to effect the way my feet felt in the long run.
The upper consists of many air holes as well as channeling on the interior to provide a breathable fit. These did help when the shoes got a bit warm when wearing without socks. They also helped greatly when I wore them to the pool. They dried so incredibly fast!
Speaking of wearing them at the pool. I decided to test them out on the pool deck where I have had some near misses while wearing Oofos slides. I am happy to report the fantastic traction these have. One less shoe to take to the gym!
My favorite detail on the Revive is the little nubs on the insole. They are there to provide assistance in blood flow. It feels like a little massage every step you take. Quite reminiscent of the old Adidas slides.
Each pair of shoes also comes with a Kane carabiner that you can attach the heel loops to your bag or whatever else you may be using to carry them.

Kane Revive Fit
My feet slide into these so smoothly which is great if you have swollen and tired feet. There is a strap on the back that helps leverage this as well.
The overall fit is a bit large for me. I generally wear an 8.5 in womens shoes but since these only come in whole sizes, I rounded up to a 9. Kane’s sizing recommendation in to size down if you are in between sizes but to size up if you have a wide foot.
This sizing only bothered me at first. I threw on a pair of nice thick wool socks and my feet were happy to have the extra bit of room. After wearing them in different settings for a few weeks, I don’t even feel I need the thick socks anymore.
My feet feel nice and secure with not much slipping around.
Kane Revive Feel
The Kane Revive is not as cushioned as you may be used to with other recovery shoes, but that is how they are designed. They are supportive where they need to be and more of a memory foam cushion so you are not sinking in and losing that support.
My first test in these I did not hold back and wore them for multiple hours standing around on my feet. I usually get tired feet and achey knees when I do this. I can gladly say that any discomfort was greatly reduced wearing these.
I appreciate this being a full shoe as opposed to recovery slides. My foot stays put and I do not need to worry about accidentally kicking them off or sliding over the edge while walking.
The air holes are nice and help keep things fresh. They do get a bit warm indoors if you are not wearing socks. But they are anti microbial so no worries about them smelling!
Similar Shoes to the Kane Revive
Looking for another shoe for recovering from those tough workouts? We’ve compiled our list of the best recovery shoes to help narrow it down, but here are a couple that feel similar.
- Oofos Ooahh Slide – Recovery slide with a thicker softer cushion.
- Hoka ORA Slide – Recovery slide with thicker cushioning and lots of arch support.
- VKTRY Recover Clog – Closed toed recovery shoe with a carbon fiber plate.
These will for sure be a go to for post run footwear for me. I actually plan to wear them more than that; gym, pool, around the house… I really appreciated the attention to detail in the foot bed and the fact I don’t have to worry about them sliding off! I may not be reaching for them to go out for daily activities due to the style however. Our Verdict
We fully understand that a lot of you will disagree with the style note. Listen we’ve seen the kids rocking Crocs again, but it’s just not our jam. Our feet love them though, so like many things with sports we’ll look past the style.
